All-time
Nobody here yet. Whoever takes part and has played five rated games shows up here.
The pieces
For your first five rated games you're a pawn. After that your piece follows your value – roughly what the pieces are worth in chess:
- Pawnup to 2.9
- Knight3.0–3.4
- Bishop3.5–4.9
- Rook5.0–8.9
- Queen9.0–9.9
- Kingfrom 10.0 · priceless
How the value comes about
Everyone starts at 3.0. A win raises your value, a loss lowers it, a draw counts half – how much depends on the opponent: beat a stronger player and you gain more, lose to a weaker one and you lose more, and a draw against a stronger player brings something. In the first ten games the steps are bigger, so you quickly reach your piece. Games in which not both sides moved don't count. And the king? In chess he has no value – he is priceless. Here too, from 10.0.
